Green Building

  • With global warming and climate change evident we are all doing our bit, whether it be using green bags or recycling at home, it is now becoming second nature to live greener.

Terms such as “emission free” and “carbon footprint” aren’t usually associated with the building industry, due to the high use of energy and waste resulting from building. However, things are starting to change and the government now requires that all new homes meet a 5 star energy rating and renovations exceeding 50% of the size of the existing home, are now required to meet the same energy rating.

  • Here at Philip Building, we continually ask ourselves whether that is enough, and how much further can we take it?

For those interested in reducing their carbon footprint we encourage options such as water tanks, solar hot water, solar panels and double glazing, not just for the environment and peace of mind but also for the hip pocket, as many of these features will pay for themselves over time.  We also encourage green building, green energy and recycling of building wastes which are simple, low cost ways we can build greener.
